Patricia Miller
Ballet Mistress
Florence native Patricia Miller trained at the Academy of the Washington (D.C.) Ballet. As a Principal Dancer for New York City's Joffrey Ballet, Patricia graced the cover of Dance Magazine as well as the pages of Ballet News, Vogue and New York Magazine. She originated the role of Juliet in the Joffrey production of Cranko's Romeo & Juliet and Bianca in Cranko's The Taming of the Shrew. One of choreographer Gerald Arpino's favorite dancers, he created leading roles for her in Round of Angels, Secret Places and Epode. Reviewing Patricia's performance in New York Magazine, Tobi Tobias wrote, "The best dancer in the whole production was Patricia Miller. Her gifts are clarity, purity and stillness. She was as close to flawless as a human being can get." She has been Principal Ballerina and Ballet Mistress for Oregon Ballet Theatre and Ballerina, Ballet Mistress and Artist-in-Residence for Columbia City Ballet. |
