Jose Serrano
Principal Dancer

Jose Serrano’s dance training began when he was ten years old at his native country’s Ballet Teatro of Puerto Rico. At age 18, he began training seriously at The Rock School of the Pennsylvania Ballet, continuing his studies at Milwaukee Ballet’s summer program. He joined Columbia City Ballet in 2001, performing such roles as Nutcracker’s Snow King and Coppelia’s Franz. Free Times named Jose Columbia’s Best Male Dancer in 2001, writing that his performance in Nutcracker “set the stage ablaze with amazing balances and daredevil overhead lifts.”

In 2002 Jose was promoted to Principal Dancer. His other Columbia performances include principal roles in The Devil in the Garden, Hansel & Gretel and Madam Butterfly. A prolific guest artist, Jose has also appeared with Milwaukee Ballet, Mohawk Valley Ballet, Portland Ballet, Marin Civic Ballet, Boca Ballet Theatre, Pennsylvania Ballet Theatre and Griffin Ballet performing a variety of principal roles in Giselle, Le Corsaire, Don Quixote, Nutcracker, Firebird and Coppelia.
